Short answer: no. Unlike DeWalt batteries, which only work within their own battery platform (as covered throughout this site’s other DeWalt guides), drill and driver bits connect through industry-standard shank types — not a proprietary DeWalt connector. DeWalt’s own product page for its 50-piece MaxFit screwdriving bit set states the bits are “compatible with most impact drivers and drill/drivers,” not “DeWalt tools only.”
Why bits work differently from batteries
Every DeWalt battery guide on this site explains a form of platform lock-in: a 12V MAX battery doesn’t power a 20V MAX tool, and so on. Bits don’t follow that logic, because they’re not connecting to a battery system — they’re connecting to a chuck or a magnetic bit holder, both of which are built around a small number of shared shank standards used across the power tool industry. DeWalt’s bit and accessory pages describe those standards directly rather than describing a DeWalt-only fit.
The two shank types that matter

The 1/4″ hex shank is the same connector used across impact drivers and many drill/drivers from multiple brands — that’s exactly why DeWalt’s own page says “most,” not “DeWalt.” A hex-shank bit seats into any tool’s 1/4″ hex quick-change chuck or a magnetic bit holder regardless of which brand made the tool or the bit.
Impact-ready vs. standard bits: a real distinction, but not a compatibility one
DeWalt does draw one real line: its “IMPACT READY” bits and drill bits are built to handle the pulsing rotational force an impact driver produces, which a bit designed only for a standard drill may not tolerate well over time. DeWalt states its IMPACT READY tap-and-drill bit “drills and taps hole in one application” and has “up to 1/4 in. thick material capacity.” That’s a durability/application distinction, not a brand-compatibility one — a non-DeWalt impact-rated hex bit still physically fits a DeWalt impact driver, and a DeWalt impact-ready bit still physically fits another brand’s impact driver.
What determines fit for round-shank drill bits
Standard twist drill bits (round shank, no hex) aren’t limited by brand at all — they’re limited by the tool’s chuck capacity. DeWalt states its DCD1007B hammer drill uses a “1/2 in. Ratcheting nitro-carburized metal chuck with carbide inserts,” meaning it can grip round shanks up to 1/2 inch in diameter. Any round-shank bit within that size range fits, from any manufacturer.
What this guide does not claim
DeWalt’s own wording says “most” impact drivers and drill/drivers, not “all” or “every brand” — this guide repeats that qualifier rather than rounding it up to a universal guarantee. No source reviewed names specific competitor brands as confirmed-compatible, and this guide does not invent that list. SDS-Plus/SDS-Max rotary-hammer bit systems are out of scope here.
